Import options for older versions of UBB (5.x)?

  • OK, have read through hundreds of posts here but have not been able to find the answer. I have a very old UBB (5.46) which is for an established site (online since 1998) and I would like switch to vBulletin. The manual mentions import options for "UBB Classic" versions 6.x and newer. But what about these older versions? Can I import my posts? I have UBB 5.46 which is a standalone (not hosted) app written in Perl.

The older version was quite simple. No PMs or attachments or avatars. Just Forums, posts, users, and special users like admins. Each post is its own HTML file. That's it! I have a board with less than 10,000 posts.

Can I bring these posts into the new system, or will I be forced to close the old board Forums but keep the old system runnning so people can access the original posts in some sort of archive?

    Thanks! :)

  • We still have the old UBB-to-vB2 scripts available to license members, and it does work with 5.46. I don't see any reason why you could not install vB 2.3.9, import your UBB data, then upgrade to the latest version of vB.
