  • Hello, I am looking for the title of a film I saw as a child on British TV between 1984 and 1987. This is therefore a British or American movie probably from the late 70s - early 80s. The movie tells the story of some sort of digging/construction in the subway, where aliens/monsters are found. Sounds like the beginning of Reign of Fire movie, but this is a much older movie. People die, there's a a big fire of some sort. Sorry, that's all I remember. I was very young at the time. I just know that movie scared me at the time. I'm looking for the title of the movie. Thank you.

  • The original "Quatermass and tht Pit" was shown (on BBC) as far back as the 1950's. Since then I believe a number of different versions have been shown. The original was a long running serial and I understand had a cult following. In the 1950's most people in the UK did not have TV's and it was common for people to go to their better off friends and relatives just to see this particular program. Mongolia

(Googled "locust-like aliens", chased promising summaries.) http://www.depauw.edu/sfs/backissues/61/evans61art.htm - Roy Ward Baker?s 1968 British film Five Million Years to Earth features an - "unconscious vision machine" which successfully reads the multimillion-year old - racial memories of a locust-like alien found in a spacecraft beneath the city - of London. Very amusing movie.
