Which is the best external Hard drive for a Mac?

  • I have a Macbook pro and am looking for a Hdd to backup my Hi-res photos and work on my videos using it. I was thining of getting Western Digital My book Studio Edition however review about My-books over the internet is not all that great. On the other hand Lacie seems to be enjoying a more favourable clientele.
    Please advise.


  • I have two HDDs for my MacBook Pro. Apple told me that Seagate and Western Digital are the best. The most important thing is to put it in a box with a Firewire connector so that your external will run very fast. USB will run really slow.


  • I got a sweet deal on a 1TB Seagate FreeAgent Hard Drive on Newegg.com. It was like $115 and it work great.


  • I like Lacie because I can reuse the enclosure very easy if something goes wrong with the internal disk drive.
